Long Run Costs

More Formally:

Economies of scale is measured as a cost output elasticity
EC = MC/AC

  • EC =1 Neither economies nor diseconomies of scale
  • EC>1 Diseconomies of scale
  • EC<1  Economies of scale. Notice that the firm enjoys economies scale when MC<ATC

Costs

Costs

Explicit Costs
Ex:pay wages, pay rent
Implicit Costs
Ex:The opprtunity cost of the owners time.

Remember:
The costs of something is
what you give up to get it

Because of the costs (Explicit and Implicit) that  influence the firm.

Costs As opportunity costs
  • Accountant measure the explicit costs but often ignore the implicit costs.
  • Economist include all opportunity costs when measuing costs (such as firms own building for which it doesn't pay rent)

Accounting Profit = Tr-explicit costs
Ecomomic profit   = TR- Explicit costs-Implicit costs

Opportunity Costs : Explicit Costs+Implicit Costs

Part IV

Monosyllabic Words

Obviously, these words do  not present any problems for you becouse, when pronounced in isolation, they receive the primary stress on their only syllable. Notice that we donot show the stress of monosyllabic words.

When part of sentence, monosyllabic content words are pronounced with full forms of vowels whereas monosyllabic function words are normally pronounced with the weak forms of vowels.

The vowels of monosyllabic function words are pronounced fully in two contexts:
a. when the words appears ina sentence-final
b. word stress had some characteristic.

Part III

Word Stress Pattern

There were so many theory of word stress pattern. According to Birjandi and Noudoushan (2005:99-100) stress is a term that we apply to words in isolation which have more than one syllable. It refers to the property that certain syllable carry which makes them stand out from the restof the word. It seems certain that stressed syllable are made with more effort than unstressed ones; the muscles in the lungs seems to expel air more aggressively than for unstressed syllable.
The following are the stress patterns as the guide for the predictability of english word stress.

Part II

Word Stress

Mc Mahon (2002:118) the opinion that native speakers of english are intuitively aware that certain syllables in each word and  one syllables in particular, will be more phone tically prominent than others. indeed, within the word, there can be more than one level of stress. Thus the learners should master word stress. It was in line (Roach, 2002:89) who states the following.

Stress Pattern

Stress Definition

There are many statements that discuss about stress. we can't deny that stress is a part of pronounciation. Ramelan (1999:25) states that stress is  the degree of force or loudness with which a syllable is pronounced so as to give it promine who explance. Those argumen tations are supported by donahue(2006:112) who explains that stress result when a change in pitch or energy or both. Kreidler (2004:70) states that stress maybe spoken at a slightly  higher pitch than an unstressed syllable, and it has greater length and intensity; stressed sylllables are relatively stronger and longer, unstressed syllables weaker and shorter.

Palestine will be Free

Palestine Will Be Free

Every day we tell each other
That this day will be the last
And tomorrow we all can go home free
And all this will finally end
Palestine tomorrow will be free
Palestine tomorrow will be free

No mother no father to wipe away my tears
That's why I won't cry
I feel scared but I won't show my fears
I keep my head high

Deep in my heart I never have any doubt
That Palestine tomorrow will be free
Palestine tomorrow will be free

I saw those rockets and bombs shining in the sky
Like drops of rain in the sun's light
Taking away everyone dear to my heart
Destroying my dreams in a blink of an eye

What happened to our human rights?
What happened to the sanctity of life?

And all those other lies?
I know that I'm only a child
But is your conscience still alive

I will caress with my bare hands
Every precious grain of sand
Every stone and every tree
'Cause no matter what they do
They can never hurt you
Coz your soul will always be free

Palestine tomorrow will be free
Palestine tomorrow will be free

Functional Grammar

Functional Grammar

Functional grammars view language as a resources for making meaning. These grammars attempt to describes language in actual use and so focus on texts and their contexts. They are concerned not only with the structures but also with how those structures construct meaning. Functional grammars start with the question, how are the meanings of this text realised?

Traditional and formal grammars would analyse our earlier clause as follows:

Time          flies       like an arrow
noun          verb       prepositional phrase
Tim            fold       of a tragic case

Systematic-functional grammar, on the other hand, labels elements of the clause in terms of the function each is playing in that clause rather than by word class.

Time                  flies            like an arrow
Participants:       Process:     Circumstance:
Actor                  Materal      Manner

In these last two clauses, the participants (doer) rules are realised nouns, the process (doing) by verbs and the circumstances by prepositional phrases. B ut 'flying' and 'feeling' are two quite different orders of 'doing" and in the above clause 'like an arrow' tells how time flies, while 'of a tragic case' tells what tim was talking about.

For You Sist!

Number one for me

I was a foolish little child
Crazy things I used to do
And all the pain I put you through
Mama now I'm here for you
For all the times I made you cry
The days I told you lies
Now it's time for you to rise
For all the things you sacrificed

Oh, if I could turn back time rewind
If I could make it undone
I swear that I would
I would make it up to you

Mum I'm all grown up now

It's a brand new day
I'd like to put a smile on your face every day
Mum I'm all grown up now
And it's not too late
I'd like to put a smile on your face every day

And now I finally understand
Your famous line
About the day I'd face in time
‘Cause now I've got a child of mine
And even though I was so bad
I've learned so much from you
Now I'm trying to do it too
Love my kid the way you do

Oh, if I could turn back time rewind
If I could make it undone
I swear that I would
I would make it up to you

Mum I'm all grown up now

It's a brand new day
I'd like to put a smile on your face every day
{ From: http://www.elyrics.net }
Mum I'm all grown up now
And it's not too late
I'd like to put a smile on your face every day

You know you are the number one for me
You know you are the number one for me
You know you are the number one for me
Oh, oh, number one for me
There's no one in this world that can take your place
Oh, I'm sorry for ever taking you for granted, ooh
I will use every chance I get
To make you smile, whenever I'm around you
Now I will try to love you like you love me
Only God knows how much you mean to me

Oh, if I could turn back time rewind
If I could make it undone
I swear that I would
I would make it up to you

Mum I'm all grown up now

It's a brand new day
I'd like to put a smile on your face every day
Mum I'm all grown up now
And it's not too late
I'd like to put a smile on your face every day

The number one for me
The number one for me
The number one for me

Oh, oh, number one for me
