Stress Pattern

Stress Definition

There are many statements that discuss about stress. we can't deny that stress is a part of pronounciation. Ramelan (1999:25) states that stress is  the degree of force or loudness with which a syllable is pronounced so as to give it promine who explance. Those argumen tations are supported by donahue(2006:112) who explains that stress result when a change in pitch or energy or both. Kreidler (2004:70) states that stress maybe spoken at a slightly  higher pitch than an unstressed syllable, and it has greater length and intensity; stressed sylllables are relatively stronger and longer, unstressed syllables weaker and shorter.
