Imperatives

IMPERATIVES
 
In imperatives the mood elements may consist of subjects+finite, Subject only, finite only, or they may have no mood elements There will always be a predicator.


Dont you put it there (subject + finite)

Lets put it there (Subject)

Don't put it there (Finite)

Put it there (No subject or finite)

\Commands are variable in their realisation:

Turn it down. (imperative)
Will you turn it down please? (polar interrogative)
You really ought to turn it down? (declarative)
Why dont you turn it down? (wh-interrogative)

Offers also dont have typitical grammatical realisation.

Have a chocolate (imperative)
Like a coffe (polar interrogative)
i'll make some toast (Declarative)
i'll turn it up, shall? (declarative+tag)
